Gmail: Navigating Your Emails Guide
Gmail: Navigating Your Emails Guide
Challenge: Many users—especially older adults—are unfamiliar with navigating email interfaces, which can lead to frustration, errors, or avoidance of digital communication tools.
Solution: I designed a step-by-step instructional guide that simplifies key Gmail tasks using clear language, consistent layouts, and supportive visuals. The guide prioritizes the most efficient user actions while minimizing unnecessary steps.
Result: Users can navigate their inbox, search for emails, and locate older messages with greater confidence, success, and independence. This project demonstrates my ability to translate complex digital processes into accessible, user-friendly instructional materials.
Design Decisions & Rationale:
Key design decisions were made to support usability, clarity, and confidence for beginning users:
Prioritized search as the primary method to reflect real user behavior
Reduced unnecessary steps and visuals to support beginning users
Used consistent layouts and selective highlighting to guide attention
